Okay here we go!!
With my daughter starting kindergarten *gasp* this week (seriously, when did that happen??) there seems to be a lot of prepare. Because her school is two full days a week (and every other friday) instead of half days every day, I will be packing her a lunch. I always used paper bags growing up but really have a bit of an aversion to them when I consider it - I don't want them thrown out - and they aren't always the easiest to keep and reuse (I can't help but think it will be more trouble than it's worth). Plus I don't want to go through and obscene amount of plastic baggies either - so I've been on the hunt for something reusable and of course, stylish. I happened upon Kids Konserve through another site and got pretty excited right away (I can't help it - I love new products and finding new companies). It pretty much fits into exactly what I was looking for.
The Kids Konserve waste-free lunch kit and other reusable products were the natural outgrowth of what Chance and Lynn saw as a big need that required immediate attention. With the premise that any business they undertook had to help the environment in some way, it didn’t take much imagination to see how they, as parents of young children, were contributing to garbage landfills, pollutants and sending the wrong message to their own children. They didn't understand how they could set an example of conservation for their children and empower them to be the examples of change for the future?
So - they made a change - and turned it into a business. I love that! They saw a need and went for it...and what has resulted are some pretty fabulous products! They've thought of EVERYTHING - not just a lunch bag, but water bottles, snack containers, and napkins!!! Oh and they even carry natural dish soap and surface cleaner! (Oh and an ice pack with *sweat cover* - seriously - EVERYTHING!) Check out all of their products HERE. You can buy the items individually or in kits - including a sort of *picnic ready* kit which I LOVE! They even thought to sell additional round food container lids - they must also understand that things go missing. lol
Chance was generous enough to send me a Green Food Kozy to review...I have to be honest, I haven't actually used it yet as I've been waiting for school to start (I didn't want to lose it before then lol). But it looks pretty great and has some really awesome features. Not only can you use them to wrap sandwiches, bagels and cream cheese, tortilla roll-ups, meat and cheese slices, apple slices or whatever else you want to wrap up and take along, they are also perfect for use at home! Wrap up blocks of cheese, deli meats, cut cucumber, bell peppers or whatever else you used to put in plastic wrap or foil. Oh but it doesn't stop there - They are also recycled, FDA approved, non-toxic, non-leaching, recyclable PE plastic. This product does not contain Bisphenol-A (BPA) and is Phthalate free. 13" round. Seriously - can it get any better than that?? They are truly the perfect alternative to plastic baggies, plastic wrap, and foil.
AND they just recently added a new orange food kozy to their product list.
Kids Konserve is doing something a bit different for all of you - a fabulous coupon code for 25% off their Food Kozy (come in a set of 5) - did you notice they are already on sale?? Well, this coupon code STILL WORKS!!! So instead of $25 for the set of 5, and instead of $18.75 - you only pay $14.06! - that's under $3 each! Just use coupon code KOZY25 at checkout to receive the additional discount!
HAPPY SHOPPING! And hey - if you get anything *stop in* and let us know what you've got and how you like it! I'm sure to be expanding our collection as well :)
